I love a good burger, especially the ones from the local burger joint. I first heard of Vaz’s Takeaway from Ant’s brother. He boasted about some insanely good burgers and this one creation called The Ark Burger. The origin of this burger came about when one of Ant’s brother’s friend’s brother wanted something that was loaded with protein as he is a fitness freak! As quoted by Vaz, Noah built an Ark to save the land creatures from the “Great Flood”, we build an Ark to save the really really hungry people from the “Great Hunger”. Now I present to you… The Ark Burger in all its glory.
This version is the “share between two version”, normally there would just be one burger bun half in the middle instead of two. Measuring over 25cm tall and possibly weighing 1kg; this monster of a burger consists of double beef patty, BBQ roasted chicken, scotch fillet steak, double served of chicken schnitzel, double bacon, double cheese, egg and all the regular salad options such as lettuce, tomato, onions, beetroot and pineapple! There was no way in the world that I’d be able to finish this burger on my own; I can eat a lot of food but this would be too much so my friend and I decided to go half on it. If you can’t be bothered to consume this all as a burger you can opt to have it in salad form, with the addition of battered fish and calamari rings.
It was good and didn’t feel that fattening at all (wait until you read what I post about the fatty American food that I had). The initial problem I had was how was I going to get my mouth around this burger? Imagine one burger half being the size of a soft drink can! Would you believe me if I said that the current record for eating this burger is 7min and 29seconds?! And would you believe me if I said that this burgers only cost $15!?
By the way, I finished my half and managed to eat an ice cream afterwards (I needed to satisfy my “dessert stomach”).
EDIT (13/04/2011): Vaz has actually started a restaurant at Pritchard’s Hotel which is up the road from where Vaz’s Takeaway is. His family members are still at the takeaway joint cooking up a storm whilst he is serving up a mixture of asian and western cuisine. Opening of operation are 12 – 3pm and 5 – 9pm.
omg!! How does that stay standing up???!! Looks good though, minus the bacon!
that looks delicious! look at that bacon. *drools*
WOAH.. that is one mighty burger
Wow. Looks like a heart attack! But oh so yum at the same time! Amazed how it stacks up so well.
Now this is one mega burger tower!!! Haha, apart from satisfying your dessert stomach I reckon I’d have to eat something to neutralise the savouriness from this burger =p
bahaha that’s awesome ive always wanted to create a burger tower more than attempting to eat one!
Fantastic – how on earth did you get your mouth around that one?
Looks Yum. I reckon i could tackle it. Would have to use a knife and fork though 🙂 good on you for finishing half…. you’re a lot smaller than me. hehe
Omg that is huge. I’m fascinated with how they constructed it so high and how they got it to your table without it falling over!
omg!!! A huge burger!!!
Hey guys. For those who want to know, there’s a skewer placed in the centre of the burger to hold it all up.
Andrew: You can’t eat a burger with knife and fork, you gotta get in and get your hands dirty 😛
Oh my! Now that put’s KFC’s tower burger to shame =D
From the intro I was expecting a big burger, but when I scrolled down the photo is unbelievable! That’s a burger even the American’s would be proud of.
Angie: Indeed. It’s probably cheaper and healthier than KFC as well!
Richard: Hehe thanks! I don’t think the Americans would be proud of this actually because it’s not fatty or greasy enough!
There’s also a YouTube clip out there for the world record of someone eating the Ark Burger.
Yes I’ve seen that! I can’t believe someone could finish that entire burger in 7mins 29secs. It’s so insane!!
