About Me

Hi! My name is Phuoc (pronounced “fook”) and I am a Vietnamese-Australian living in the western suburbs of Sydney.

I am a scientist specialising in cancer research and currently doing my PhD. During my undergraduate years, I have always found baking to be therapeutic and have enjoyed it a lot as it draws me away from my crazy agenda. I find the simplest joy in baking and cooking for those close to me as I love seeing the joy on their faces as they enjoy my creations.

My food hero is Heston Blumenthal. I love the way he looks at food and tackles it. Using science to improve the flavour of foods or cooking techniques. Being so creative and inventive to come up with daring yet awesome dishes. I had the pleasure to meet and chat with him briefly; if only I could pick at his brains longer. Now that would be a dream come true!

Travelling is also one of my other passions in life. The travel bug struck me hard when I came back from my European holiday in 2009, and ever since then, I try to travel at least once a year; which I’ve succeeded so far. Whenever I travel, I try to get a sense of the country’s culture from the foods I eat. I always get excited when I share my travelling experiences with people or even just talking to friends who are planning their holidays (which often makes me very jealous of them). If only I could travel around the world for a living!

This blog is a place where I share my dining experiences, cooking/baking adventures as well as the holidays that I get to take, tied in with food of course!

I hope you enjoy!
