1 EURO stroopwaffel in Rotterdam (Netherlands)

My name is Phuoc (pronounced “fook”) and I am a Vietnamese-Australian living in the western suburbs of Sydney. I am a scientist specialising in cancer research and I have just started my PhD . During my undergraduate years, I have always found baking to be therapeutic and have enjoyed it a lot as it draws me away from my crazy agenda. Ever since I could remember I have always loved being in the kitchen; my first memory is of baking scones in year 1. I find the simplest joy in baking and cooking for friends as I love hearing them moan when they are enjoying my food. I am a very proud owner of a Empire Red Kitchenaid Mixer. The boy thinks I’m a little odd because I enjoy shopping for kitchen appliances and gadgets. I long for the day I’ll have my very own kitchen; as it’ll be a place for me to escape the craziness of the world.

I guess the one person outside my family who suffers (?) from my obsessions is my boyfriend, Anthony. I have dragged him around to restaurants and forced him to eat the yummy food that I make; such an awful girlfriend I am… He doesn’t get jealous when I go crazy over  Heston Blumenthal, Adriano Zumbo and Manu Feildel and he is patient when I take photos of food whenever we go out to eat. He is also part of the brains behind this blog as he has helped me build it.

The main objective of my blog is to inspire and encourage everyone to get into their kitchen and start baking; it’s not that hard! Don’t give up when something doesn’t turn out the way you wanted it to; it happens, no one’s perfect (even I stuff up sometimes).. Just keep at it and think about the reward in the end. This blog will also be a place where I share my dining experiences; hoping that I could provide some suggestions if you need it.
